The MSE Servo Feeds use state of the art technology to deliver ideal point to point positioning of precision ground, feed rolls. The use of Brushless AC Servo Motors and Controllers offers cooler more reliable operation than conventional mechanical roll feeds. The days of making mechanical adjustments to change feed lengths are gone. Climbing ladders to make mechanical adjustments are a thing of the past. To change the feed length on Servo Feeds, you simply access the Operator Interface Terminal (OIT), enter the desired feed length and start the machine. No fine tuning is required; what you program is what you get. The benefits of the Servo Roll Feed are, reduced set up time, zero injuries during the set-up procedure, instant accuracy and repeatability, and increased production. |

In addition to having finger tip control over feed length, you also have the same control over velocity, acceleration, and feed direction. These parameters can be individually programmed to match the requirements of each specific job. In many cases, however, a given machine will operate within a narrow range of parameters and will therefore seldom require changes (other than feed length) from one job to the next. |
Servo Stagger Feeds were developed specifically for those application where material savings could be realized by initiating an X, Y axis of material feeding. Typical applications are seen on transfer presses such as Waterbury Farrell, U.S. Baird, and Platarg machines. These machines tend to stamp round blanks from a strip of material one piece at a time. Nesting of these blanks is accomplished via the Servo Stagger Feed resulting in material savings. See illustraton below: |
Note: The yellow circles illustrate how material savings can be realized by nesting blanks in material. The green represents the raw material. |
Programming of the Servo Stagger Feeds (like the straight servo feeds) is simple and quick. The program consists of a series of lines of instructions as if printed out on a piece of paper. You simply scroll down the page and insert values when asked. Once you reach the bottom of the page, you are prompted to save the values you have entered by pushing the save button. Once you have saved the values, you are prompted to home the feed (by pushing the home button). The feed will then move to its home position for the values just entered. Once the feed has homed, the OIT screen will prompt you to start production. |
The Model SSF-2 is capable of feeding 2" Wide Metal X .025" Thick Maximum. |
Model SSF-5 is capable of feeding 6" Wide Metal X .060" Thick Maximum. |
Model SSF6 is capable of feeding 6" Wide Metal X .060" Thick Maximum. |
The servo stagger feeds are capable of feeding single row up to six row blanking. To achieve this, you simply select the number of rows desired during the programming process. Programming of all parameters generally takes less than 1 minute. Due to the extreme accuracy of the system, fine tuning is unnecessary, which simplifies the set-up and leads to increased production. |
Installation of Servo Feeds is less complicated than that of mechanical roll feeds and/or air feeds. Time consuming coupling of the feed to the drive shaft or to the slide of the production machine is not required. The following steps summarize the installation: |
Mount the roll feed assembly to the production machine such that the center of the rolls lines up with the center of the punch.
|
Locate the control panel near a 110 VAC power supply.
|
Mount the factory supplied proximity switch (feed initiate switch) adjacent to the machine drive shaft.
|
Fabricate and mount a 180 degree cam to the machine drive shaft to actuate the proximity switch. |
Connect the quick disconnect cables from the control panel to the roll feed assembly. |
Connect an air line to the air inlet valve to apply pressure to the feed rolls. |
